In December 2011, the Scottish Government committed to completing the dualling of the A96 between Inverness and Aberdeen by 2020 [a target date which has been revised to 2030] . Transport Scotland – the national transport agency for Scotland – is charged with delivering the dualling project on behalf of the Scottish Government.

The Forres Area A96 Dualling Action Group (FAADAG) is a constituted, voluntary, local community group comprising representatives and interested parties drawn from in and around the communities of Forres, Rafford, Pluscarden and the Finderne Community Council area.
